Q&A: What 3D Movies exist now for 3D TV’s and Shutter Glasses?

Question by SanS: What 3D Movies exist now for 3D TV’s and Shutter Glasses?
Is there anything else available apart from “Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs”? I don’t want red/blue movies – I want the ones that are designed for the new 3D TV’s.

And – where are these movies for sale if they exist at all?

How well are 3D TV’s selling?

Question by MrKline: How well are 3D TV’s selling?
How many people are buying these new 3d tvs? And which brands are selling the best?

Best answer:

Answer by JONATHANZ
Selling less than originally planned. Best selling brands are Sony / Samsung / Panasonic.

Cost is the issue, not just more expensive TV, need to buy a 3D Blu-Ray, and invest in glasses. On top of that, content to watch is very limited.

It will happen, just slower than originally planned. Hollywood is behind 3D in the theater release 100%, but has not put the effort needed in home movie release to support people really buying these TVs up at this time.

On a very limited basis, yes. I saw a news story a few days ago about a hockey game that was broadcast in 3D. ESPN is launching their 3D network on June 11. ABC launches later this year.

There is no technological issue now.

There is just no great economic incentive for manufactures to design, build, and sell hardware which will negate the need for you to buy new hardware from them where the profit margin is greater.

You can’t find the price because they haven’t been officially rolled out. They’ve only been announced. Most nerd sites are predicting they will the most expensive options from each of the respective manufacturers. So you’re looking at likely nothing less than $ 2,000, and maybe approaching $ 3,000.

And that’s just the cost for the TVs. Its unclear whether Sony will package the 3D glasses with the TV or make them an accessory you have to buy. Some people feel they will be an accessory to try and keep the cost of the TVs down. Others feel you’re likely to only get 1 pair included, but will have to buy additional pairs. Expected price on those is rumored to be around $ 200, but that’s just a guess as far as I could tell.

The model/series number you have listed, was what they did announce in the press release. So that is correct. But you’ll likely be stuck until at least March to get your hands on a price or actual model. And that’s a maybe. It could well be not until the summer (June/July) before they roll those out. They didn’t officially state a street date in their press release.
