First Look Preview with Panasonic 3D TV and NVIDIA 3DTV Play
NVIDIA announced 3DTV Play with its partner Panasonic today. 3DTV Play will enable 3D LCD, LED and Plasma TVs, such as those by Panasonic, to play 3D games and Blu-Ray 3D movies from PC to TV using NVIDIA’s new 3DTV software and a NVIDIA GeForce graphic-enabled PC. The software will retail for $39.99. Concurrent with the announcement, NVIDIA showed off 3DTV for the first time on Panasonic’s Touch the Future Tour. GamerLive.TV got an exclusive first look preview of the new technology as it caught up with the tour in Hollywood, California.
Samsung UE40B7000 TV Comes with Networking Capability
This Samsung UE40B7000 TV has been through extensive testing which has been manufactured in Korea and was found to have a wonderful natural looking picture with realistic colours and sharpness. It has a deep black panel that is non -reflective. Although the analogue picture lacks a little fine detail the cable TV and digital terrestrial define detail perfectly.
The most outstanding feature of this Samsung UE40B7000 is its network functionality and you are able to connect the television to a PC network using a standard Ethernet cable. You will also need to have a router if you want to have access to a PC network as well as the router will require a broadband internet connection allowing for online functions.
An additional function is that this Samsung UE40B7000 allows you picture and audio playback from your PC while it is switched on but you have to have software in order to run this addition properly. The Samsung manufacturers do supply the necessary soft ware which is compatible with windows and this software is called PC Share Manager 2. 0.
The Samsung UE40B7000 comes with all the features expected of a television and is one of the televisions measuring just over an inch in depth and is rated one of the top in the ranges of LCD. Behind the resolution glass there is a range of enhanced image technologies including a 100Hz scanning which gives a smoother motion as well as networking and digital media features.
Looks are everything when it comes to the Samsung UE40B7000 with its hint of red included in the gloss black crystal screen and it can also with ease be hung up on the wall. The great thing about the Samsung is that t is also compatible with yahoo, widget when it comes to photos and music. Wait till you see the remotes that come with the TV they are small and extremely trendy looking like little polished stones with a push button at the top.
Edge mounted LED lamps are used instead of a full back array of CCFL tubes making it much thinner. Due to this the UE40B7000 consumes very little power and the down side is that it does not allow for localised dimming like other television’s do. Although the brightness is uniform it’s not able to shut off the backlights. As Samsung does not quote a specific contrast ratio and black levels usually drop off when you are sitting to the side of the TV obstructing the viewing.
Samsung UE40B7000 features a crisp edge as well as deep blacks which totally enhance the picture on the screen which makes it nearly 3D. Additionally there are also game options which you can choose from. A common interface card slot is included and an Ethernet socket as well as 2 USB 2. 0 ports used for the networking feature. There is a port which can be used for a LAN wireless adapter costing you a little more and there are also amazing multimedia features.
All round this Samsung UE40B7000 will provide you with an outstanding picture and is very priced but the only thing that is not up to standard is the speakers otherwise you can’t go wrong with this elegant television.
Samsung UE40B7000 TV Leads The Pack
The Samsung UE40B7000 is one of the top performers in the mid-range class of LCDs. This has the standard black casing common to all electronics, and this one has a platinum black color, leaving it slightly glossier. The stem is clear, giving it a more contemporary look, and setting it slightly apart from others on the market. It is an attractive set, even following the trends currently on the market.
These are being marketed as the new LED TVs, and they are an LCD set, with the back lights set around the edge of the screen. This is supposed to make the picture brighter and help with the clarity to the set. Many report that the picture looks slightly soft, and that the lighting is no brighter then a plasma set. The one thing about this new design, is that the set itself measures about an inch wide, so the super slim look is achieved though it.
This 1080p HD TV does come with 4 HDMI slots, 2 USB ports and digital audio jacks. It also has Ethernet capabilities, Scart slots and has Free view already installed, so you can watch programs without extra equipment.
The set is helped with high action scenes with the Motion plus technology, which allows you to always see what is happening on the screen. The Mega Contrast gives a deep, rich black, but on very dark scenes, the edge back lights distort this somewhat, with the edges showing some of the brightness through it.
The Samsung UE40B7000 only has a few problems, and these are listed. Many cases adjusting your own settings can help, and the picture is fantastic with rich colors and an image that is wonderful to watch. The brightness is not distracting, and many with plasma sets will not notice a difference at all.
You do get plenty of extra features on this set, and Yahoo widget is the newest of them. You can use others to stay in touch with the weather and sports. You an also view other internet content, making this one of the few that fully interacts at the price range. If you want to watch more content, the USB port can allow you to view removable media on your set in HD, too.
The main problem is with the audio. This set is too thin to hold speakers that can give you a true sound experience, and you may find that you will need an external audio system to fully enjoy the cinematic scope of some movies. The sound is good for its limitations, but is slightly tinny sounding at high volumes.
The energy the Samsung UE40B7000 is superior to others on the market. Averaging about 100 to 130w, this significantly uses less energy, and this can translate into high savings for you on your bills. This set over all is an exceptional value and a quality product that will give many hours of enjoyment.
Samsung’s New C9000 3D LED TV Delivers High Performance
Samsung’s new C9000 3D LED TV is really as good as it looks, this swish looking TV shows all the signs of being a class leader. The C9000 is only 7mm thick but is packed with a luxurious array of features. Sammy’s new set comes with Wi-Fi, USB, Ethernet, HDMI and is HD 3D ready. The internet enabled monster allows the user of widgets including BBC iPlayer, Muzu.tv and movie streaming from LoveFilm.
The features don’t stop with the set itself, the C9000 comes with what looks to be a Logitech-Harmony-beating Wi-Fi zapper. The remote allows you to view content on the inbuilt touchscreen without requiring you to interrupt your current show. Very clever, although make sure your don’t end up watching football on the remote instead of your TV!
The TV will be available in 46? and 55? versions so those wanting an inconspicuous TV can look elsewhere, but looking as good as it does, who would want it to go unnoticed?
Samsung Celebrates its Worldwide Availability of Full HD 3D LED TVs
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, today celebrated the worldwide availability of the first-ever Full HD 3D LED TVs with a one-of-a-kind special performance by The Black Eyed Peas in Times Square. “Avatar” director James Cameron, who has been a crucial driver in furthering the development of 3D content, also joined today’s celebration. Samsung Electronics 3D LED TV global launch celebration in Times Square was filmed in 3D by James Cameron and Vince Pace’s production company Cameron/Pace, and streamed live via Dipdive.com, the popular lifestyle engine for music, arts, action and more. The Times Square surprise performance by The Black Eyed Peas kicked off Samsung Electronics’ global campaign to raise awareness for its 3D TV technology leadership, which also includes worldwide launch events and a global television advertising campaign. The Black Eyed Peas 3D footage joins the growing range of 3D content, including the most successful animated film franchise of all time — DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc.’s (NASDAQ: DWA) “Shrek” film series — which Samsung will make available in 3D Blu-ray for the first time ever.

Television Entertainment Arrives in Samsung 3D
Samsung’s 2010 3D TV lineup includes the LED 7000/8000/9000 Series, LCD 750 Series, and the Plasma 7000/8000 Series. Available this month are the 3D capable 46″ and 55″ LED C7000, followed by the remaining 3D TVs in coming months.
Samsung is also partnering with the world’s top entertainment brands to deliver content that showcases the LED TVs’ 3D picture quality with incredible depth and perfect clarity. The company recently joined forces with DreamWorks Animation to accelerate the worldwide deployment of in-home 3D to mainstream consumers, which includes a first-time feature-length, 3D Blu-ray version of DreamWorks Animation’s 2009 release, “Monsters vs. Aliens.”
In addition, Samsung and DreamWorks Animation announced earlier this week an expansion of their strategic alliance to feature an exclusive offering of the Company’s beloved “Shrek” film series — which to date has grossed over $2 billion in worldwide box office — in its entirety in 3D for the first time ever.
Marketing in a New Dimension
Samsung is waging a multi-dimensional marketing campaign to create greater awareness worldwide, and to communicate the experience of 3D in a variety of ways, including television commercials displayed on two-dimensional TVs.
The effort starts with the global phenomenon The Black Eyed Peas, which includes producing 3D concert footage from their The E.N.D. World Tour to be displayed at retail and be used in bundled 3D Blu-ray promotions with Samsung 3D LED TVs later this year. Samsung also deployed B-Boy dancers throughout New York City today to highlight the liberation of TV from 2D to 3D, and is aggressively utilizing print and out-of-home advertising, as well as an in-depth social media campaign.
Samsung also today revealed its 3D Cube, a mega screen display composed of 36 55″ LED 7000 Series 3D LED TVs outside The Samsung Experience in New York City. This is one of several 3D Cubes created by the company to build awareness for Full HD 3D LED TV around the world.
At the centerpiece of the campaign is a global TV commercial filmed by renowned director Sam Brown, that translates the immersion of 3D on a 2D TV screen. The commercial was shot in Buenos Aires and Iguazu Falls in Argentina, requiring 10 days of filming and a large scale production.
The ads will begin running in late March on every continent except Antarctica.
3D TV Similar to Holographic TV
Holographic TV can be described as similar to 3D TV, but not exactly. It seems to have been awhile since anything exciting has happened in the realm of the television market, with the long reign of standard plasma, DLP and LCD HDTV. In ’08, there was the world’s first Laser TV: a technology that utilized lasers to create an on-screen display many times more vibrant and crystal-clear than your standard HDTV.
Then, there were talks of OLED: a super thin screen that needs no backlight, slated to make LCD TV technology obsolete, currently under development by Sony and Samsung. Take a side-step into the upcoming world of 3D TV…it’s not quite holographic, but makes objects appear in that quasi-3D way you’ve experienced in movie theatres…just without the glasses!
Many steps ahead, however, is Holographic TV. Currently nothing more than a speculation, there are theories as to what Holographic TV will be like and how it will perform.
While in its earliest stages of development, holographic TV is a technology that is being given serious attention from Japanese technology companies, of whom are hoping to have the technology hit the consumer market by the year 2020.
In 2008, researchers at the University of Arizona were able to develop a breakthrough technology: the creation of an updateable 3D display. While this particular display could only be updated after several minutes, there is now hope that it can be further developed to eventually fulfill the need of updating that image several times per second — a feat that would be required for holographic TV.
There are very few emerging technologies today that have developed equipment that comes ‘close’ to the true vision of hologram TV. Amongst them are:
Cheoptics360 (pictured on upper right): Developed by Videa, Cheoptics360 is a technology utilizing four hologram projectors to project an outbound image. It can be seen from all angles, and has surprisingly good contrast. This is thought of as the most advanced attempt at creating true holographic TV imagery. (More information from Engadget)
Claro Holographic TV (pictured in middle right): You have probably never heard of Claro, but their attempt at an early holographic TV display has been known as a breakthrough in the field. It displays an image through a hologram projector through transparent glass. While not truly “holographic,” it’s as close to 3D TV as seen thus far. (More information from Gizmag)
UberCoolHome Uber-Graph (pictured on lower right): Little to no information can be found on this semi-holographic television set. Only 100 of them were made, and one was infamous for being sold on eBay for a starting bid at over $10,400.
There’s not much information hypothesizing how a holographic TV set would work, but early ideas hint at a “screen” or a sheet of glass or plastic in which a hologram projector would draw the image through. Currently, it is thought to eventually provide a floating 3D “virtual reality” view of a motion picture image, in which the image and its components can be viewed from all angles, regardless of where you are standing in relation to the projection.
Beyond making a milestone television viewing experience, holographic TV technology is thought to also develop major applications in the medical and military display fields, as well. As you may have guessed, it would also revolutionize the gaming market, as 3D imagery could be rendered to display the elements of games from first-person shooters to auto racing.
