Samsung 40C7000 3D HDTV – A Non-Technical Review

Early in 2010 Samsung was the first major manufacturer to launch a commercial 3D HDTV. There’s been so much hype about 3D recently that an enormous amount depends on the impression this set makes; if people don’t take to 3D at once, the feature may never take off. Very cleverly Samsung has come up with a TV so stunning that 3D is only one of its many features.

One way the Samsung 40C7000 overcomes the current lack of availability of 3D material is that it features a 2D to 3D conversion function which will add depth to any flat image. Of course, it doesn’t work as well as with genuine 3D-mastered material; the only way to get the full effect is from a 3D Blu-Ray player.

The other source for 3D material will be broadcast, and the broadcasters making the biggest noise about 3D at the moment are ESPN, Discovery and Sky.

The set also has a feature called Internet@TV which lets you get connected to the web right on your HDTV, with downloadable and customizable widgets. These widgets give you access to Blockbuster, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Amazon Video On Demand and Skype. With Skype you can enjoy free picture-in-picture video calls right from your couch.

The set also includes a tuner and has a port that enables you to connect a thumb drive or digital camera quickly and easily. The user-friendly interface allows access to videos, music playlists and pictures via the remote.

Game lovers will find a “Game Mode” that enhances dark areas, sharpens the picture, speeds up the image processing response and enhances the sounds of games.

For those that are energy conscious the set exceeds the Energy Star Standards and is up to 57% more energy efficient than the Energy Star 4.0 minimum standards.

No. The 3D TV ones have internal electronics to control their shutters. Theater ones are simple polarized lenses.

Samsung UE46C6530 46″ LED TV or Samsung LE46C750 Full HD 3D LCD TV?

Question by mr_nice_guy100: Samsung UE46C6530 46″ LED TV or Samsung LE46C750 Full HD 3D LCD TV?
Hi,

I currently have a very old 26 inch CRT tv and am looking to buy a new flat screen HDTV before the World Cup starts. I have narrowed my choice down to two TV’s, which are the Samsung UE46C6530 46″ LED TV and the Samsung LE46C750 Full HD 3D LCD TV. Both of these TV’s are quite new in the market and therefore I cannot find any reviews for them. The price for both is also roughly the same.

I wanted to know if anyone has bought either of these TV’s and what they thought of them. Should I get the LCD 3D one as it will be more future proof with the 3D feature, or the LED one which I think looks more better in terms of picture quality? Any suggestions / info welcome.

3D Samsung: Wonder-full Television

Dubbed “Wonder-full”, the spot is the first of Samsung’s 2010 “Dedicated to Wonder” campaign that features a family of three who, on a visit to an aquarium, conduct the improbable feat of slicing out a large cube of water, fish intact, lashing it to the roof of their car and driving it home, where the father sets the square on the living room entertainment center and compresses it into the new ultra slim Samsung 3D LED TV. As the family relaxes on the couch, Samsung 3D active glasses on, a stream of sea creatures pours from the screen and appears to hover over them in the living room, giving the sensation of 3D action even to viewers watching in 2D.

This was on display at CES. It shows 3D video without having to wear glasses. I realize it obviously isn’t 3D on YouTube, but I thought you would all be interested in seeing what you can. Also, this is not going to go on sale any time soon, it is merely a concept right now.

Samsung PS50C7000 3D TV Review

Samsung PS50C7000 3D TV Review

Welcome to the world of 3D TV.  After the success of films such as Avatar and Alice in Wonderland (although I preferred the less popular Up 3D), most people have experienced 3D in the cinema but now the Samsung PS50C7000 makes it affordable in the comfort of your own home.

The PS50C7000 is a 50 inch plasma screen with full HD 1080p and a 600Hz refresh rate.  This means that the picture is twice the quality of regular HD and this is further enhanced by Samsungs Real Black Filter which creates the ultimate picture contrast.

Samsung have also included Freeview HD (this will become available in most areas in 2011) and Internet@TV which allows you to view your favourite sites such as Twitter, iPlayer and YouTube on your TV.  Connect to the internet with an ethernet cable or using a Samsung wireless dongle.  You can also connect this TV to your PC, camcorder or camera to show your videos and photos.

These stunning features are available without even talking about the 3D system. This 3D TV comes into it’s own when you hook it up to a 3D source such as a 3D blu-ray player or Sky 3D.

The new technology works with LED 3D glasses which synchronise with the TV and block out each eye alternatively at a ridiculously quick rate fooling your brain into seeing in 3D.  This system allows a wide viewing angle so you don’t need to be sat directly in front of the 3D TV for it work.  Glasses are fully adjustable and available in different sizes and colours for kids.

You can currently purchase the Samsung PS50C7000 for about £1,150 which makes it a great choice for your first 3D television.  With so many films being released now in 3D and services like Sky Sports showing football in 3D already, there’s plenty of options to watch.

However this TV has so many features without the 3D that it makes a great choice if you’re looking to upgrade now and you can utilise the 3D aspects at a later date if required.

Q&A: I just got a 55inch led samsung 3d just wondering how do youuse tv speakers while using surround sound?

Question by Nicholas: I just got a 55inch led samsung 3d just wondering how do youuse tv speakers while using surround sound?
I got a 55 inch samsung 3d tv from coscto.i got the panosonic surround speakers with panosonic blu ray DVD player I hooked it all up I play it on a DVD it works great but then tv speakers are like off can I turn them on? How? Thanks.

Answer by Owen E
Generally NO the movie is playing through the Home theatre unit therefore all of thre channels are being used to produce sound through your speaker set-up. Tv speakers are only going to be used when your watching something that is not going through the receiver unit. So you have probably noticed when your not watching a DVD and only tv that you are getting the sound through tv speakers this is normal. If you wanted tv speakers to work why did you get a home theatre set-up?.
