Indiagames Announces Plans to Develop Next Generation Mobile 3D BREW Games at the BREW 2005 Developers Conference – India
(PRWEB) October 28, 2005
Indiagames, a global leader in mobile entertainment content, today announced that the company is developing its latest next-generation mobile 3D games for QUALCOMM’s BREW solution. These 3D BREW games will be optimized for QUALCOMM’s Mobile Station Modem™ (MSM™) Enhanced Multimedia Platform chipsets, including the MSM6550™ and MSM6275™. Indiagames will be featuring its new titles, Bruce Lee – Iron Fist 3D and Ashoka at the BREW 2005 Developers Conference – India being held October 26-27 at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai.
As a testament to its success to date, Indiagames has surpassed more than one million BREW downloads, effective as of September 2005.
Indiagames is dedicated to bringing high-quality games based on widely recognizable brands worldwide. Indiagames has the development and publishing rights to various brands, including Bruce Lee, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Jurassic Park, Predator, The Scorpion King, Godzilla, Spy Kids, The Phantom and many more. Indiagames plans to leverage the strength of these brands with high-quality development of mobile 3D games for the worldwide market.
The BREW 3D games Indiagames plans to develop are:
Bruce Lee – Iron Fist 3D: Bruce Lee is back in this hard-hitting 3D fighting game. Indiagames will create a 3D fighting game based on martial arts icon, Bruce Lee. The salability of the Bruce Lee brand combined with martial arts fighting, as well as high-end 3D graphics will make sure this is a sure fire hit in the hands of the consumer.
Ashoka: Ashoka is intended to be a cross-platform, current-generation, third-person, action/adventure game. Indiagames will focus primarily on porting the demo level of Ashoka onto QUALCOMM’s Enhanced Platform chipsets. Since this is intended to be a cross-platform game, Indiagames has gone to great lengths to ensure a consistent gameplay experience via console and cell phone. This will allow users to experience multi-platform play, in which a player might be able to play the game on the mobile phone, save game data and continue from where he left off on his console.
“We are pleased to be developing games for QUALCOMM’s superior 3D mobile platform,” said Vishal Gondal, CEO Indiagames Ltd. “The BREW solution’s flexibility and scalability has enabled us to create innovative wireless applications that continue to advance the realm of mobile games.”
QUALCOMM’s industry-leading MSM Enhanced Multimedia Platform chipset solutions provide hardware accelerated support for industry-standard OpenGL® ES 3D APIs integrated into a single chip solution, enabling cost-effective, fully featured, high-performance 3D games for 3G CDMA2000® and WCDMA devices.
“QUALCOMM is pleased to be working with publishers and developers like Indiagames who consistently push wireless gaming forward by bringing branded content to the 3D gaming space,” said Vishal Gupta, director of product technologies for QUALCOMM India. “The strength of the BREW solution lies in its ability to allow developers to focus on what they do best – the creation of advanced wireless content for mobile consumers worldwide.”
QUALCOMM’s BREW solution is designed to meet the distinct and varied needs of wireless operators, handset manufacturers, publishers, developers and end users around the world. BREW products and services include: an open, extensible client platform that supports robust system and application software including personalized and branded user interfaces for mass market devices; a J2EE™-based, modular delivery system that enables the distribution of content, applications and user interfaces to wireless devices across all air interfaces; a dedicated professional services team that supports the integration of customized implementations; and the wireless industry’s first global marketplace to support the monetization of applications and services developed in all programming languages. Digital Chocolate Drives Adoption of 3D Mobile Games with Technological Expertise, Deep Carrier Relationships, and New Games
(PRWEB) March 16, 2005
Digital Chocolate, a developer of software for mobile phones, is helping carriers and device manufacturers drive adoption of 3G networks and 3D games with its commitment to emerging technologies, strong carrier relationships, and popular 3D gaming titles.
Digital Chocolate has been at the forefront of 3D gaming since 2002 when the companyÂ?s European headquarters began working with industry leaders to define 3D standards in JSR 184, which was ultimately published in December 2003. Soon after, Digital Chocolate began working with device manufacturers, including Sony Ericsson and Nokia, to implement and optimize 3D games within their handsets. In 2004 Vodafone Â? impressed by Digital ChocolateÂ?s demonstrated commitment to a robust 3D content portfolio Â? selected the company as a charter 3D content provider for the global launch of its 3G mobile network, Vodafone live!. Sony Ericsson recently launched six new phones with JavaÂ? 3D technology, several of which included 3D games from Digital Chocolate.
“Sony Ericsson has one of the widest portfolios of Mobile Java 3D enabled phones, from entry-level products to highly featured advanced products,” said Peter AhnegÃ¥rd, partner manager at Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, “By offering Digital Chocolate’s 3D games, including 3D Extreme Air Snowboarding and 3D Beach Mini Golf, we provide consumers with a rich, exciting multimedia experience on our 3D-enabled phones.”
Digital Chocolate has also been leveraging its partnerships with the top carriers and device manufacturers to further 3G and 3D adoption in North America as well. Two of the companyÂ?s most popular 3D titles, 3D Extreme Air Snowboarding and 3D Beach Mini Golf, will be available in the U.S. through Sprint and Verizon Wireless in the spring of 2005.
Â?We believe that 3D will be a factor driving the adoption of wireless gaming among wireless subscribers,Â? said Schelley Olhava, program manager in the Consumer Markets research program at IDC. Â?The adoption of 3D in traditional video games spurred revolutionary growth, and as such, we expect that 3D wireless games will play a role in the growth of this market.Â?
Â?3D and 3G is a marriage made in heaven,Â? said Trip Hawkins, CEO and founder of Digital Chocolate. Â?WeÂ?re pleased to work closely with carriers worldwide to leverage their 3G networks as superior delivery vehicles for our 3D mobile games. ItÂ?s obvious we are all committed to furthering the adoption, popularity and development of 3D applications and 3G networks, and ultimately providing consumers with the best gaming experience.Â?
