IBC 2009: First, fully interactive 3D Digital Signage Platform
3DZignage Flow Diagram
Nijmegen, The Netherlands (PRWEB) August 5, 2009
Zero Creative announces the launch of the worlds’ first real-time Digital Signage platform entirely based on a 3D engine. This platform is especially designed to maximize implementation on our autostereoscopic 3D Displays. There are also several extra modules available such as gesture controlled interaction. This combination of technologies is unique and therefore a world premier.
3DZignage is developed using 3D (game) engine technology, making all content native 3D. This was done in order to make a flawless combination with the autostereoscopic xyZ 3D Displays. xyZ 3D Displays are able to show real 3D without any need for special 3D-glasses. This generates an enormous impact on people passing by. This is of course the crux of the whole concept.
The new platform changes the rules of Digital Signage, transforming it from a passive to a very (inter)active viewer experience. In doing so, it opens up the possibility of two-way communication: allow customers to really interact with the display. Improve the focus of digital marketing efforts and improve the return on investment likewise. Special modules, like Gesture Control Interactivity, offer viewers an intuitive way of controlling the platform. Besides, technologies like this make it possible to communicate ‘through’ the shopping window, opening a wide scale of new possibilities.
“Whether you already know Digital Signage or not, just skip versions 1.0 and 2.0 and go straight ahead to what we call ‘Digital Signage 3.0′ or, to go short, 3DZignage,” says Jean-Pierre van Maasakker, CEO of Zero Creative.
3DZignage is planned to be officially launched during the upcoming IBC 2009 event (11-15 September) in the dedicated Digital Signage Zone (Booth DS6).
Zero Creative is specialized in 3D experiences and creates interactive real-time 3D presentations. Besides innovative content, the media company also offers her unique autostereoscopic xyZ 3D Displays, based on lenticular technology. These LCD displays deliver a very bright and clear 3D effect, without the need of special 3D glasses.

OKYZ Releases Raider3D®, the first Universal and Light 3D Collaboration Solution
Bethesda, Maryland (PRWEB) January 15, 2004
OKYZ announced today the general availability of the Raider3D® product suite for the automotive, aerospace, manufacturing and oil & gas industries. Raider3D product suite consists of four modules: Capture, Publish, Live and Viewer. Raider3D enables the instantaneous reproduction of a perfect, extremely compressed WYSIWYG copy of a 3D scene from any CAD/CAM, CAE or Geophysics application (Raider3D Capture). Raider3D provides a foundation for simple, universal and truly spontaneous 3D collaboration, enabling users to exchange 3D models by email, embed 3D interactive content in Microsoft Office and Web documents (Raider3D Publish) and to organize real-time 3D conferences between manufacturers and suppliers, independently of their respective software environments and platforms (Raider3D Live). Raider3D Viewer is a free, lightweight, cross-platform 3D viewer.
Â?Raider3D is a true revolution for the 3D community,Â? says Jim Merry, OKYZ vice president of sales and marketing. Â?Even today the design collaboration workflow for many incredibly complex and sophisticated 3D products is based on sharing static 2D images. Raider3D enables these communication cycles to be based on the exchange and publishing of real interactive 3D information, which leads to better decisions in shorter amounts of time. By gaining the ability to spontaneously communicate real 3D information internally and externally, companies focused on 3D modeling can significantly compress the communication cycles required for team-based design decisions, validation, analysis, change orders and project reviews.Â?
Raider3D is the only 3D collaboration solution that works with any 3D application including CATIA V4/V5, Pro/Engineer, Unigraphics, VisView, I-DEAS, Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, Rhino, 3DS MAX/VIZ, Maya, FormZ, Ansys CAE, Abaqus, Pam-crash, Patran, Gocad and Petrel. Models captured with Raider3D are saved in a lightweight and secure model which can be easily manipulated, cross-sectioned, measured, annotated, emailed as an attachment, shared in real-time over the Internet, or simply published to Microsoft Office® documents and Web pages. Raider3D Viewer, available as a free download (stand alone/plug-in), is sufficient to display the captured 3D scene with the exact same visual characteristics as in the original application.
In contrast to the heavy CAD/CAM PLM solutions available today, OKYZ has developed an innovative technology characterized by it ease of use, rapid deployment cycle and short term ROI. Raider3D has a unique positioning for enabling universal and cross-platform 3D collaboration that is analogous to what AdobeÂ?s Acrobat and its PDF format have accomplished in the 2D-world, specifically: Viewing is simple, ubiquitous, safe and always free. With Raider3D, everyone can instantly send, receive, view and publish 3D models as simply as exchanging emails, while preserving the security and confidentiality of the data exchanged.
The Raider3D technology is available on Windows, Linux and Unix (SUN, SGI, HP, IBM soon) and is packaged as a suite of software products including:
Â? Raider3D Capture — Instant 3D WYSIWYG capture & markup from any OpenGL software
Â? Raider3D Live — Spontaneous real-time 3D multi-user conferencing Â? firewall friendly
Â? Raider3D Publish Â? Easy insertion of 3D content in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and HTML
Â? Raider3D Viewer — FREE viewing on Windows, Unix and MacOS X

First 3D Storybook App for iPad and iPhone, ‘The Wrong Side of the Bed 3D!,’ Released by See Here Studios
2D Cover Image from “3D Storybook – The Wrong Side of the Bed in 3D!” for iPad and iPhone
Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) April 9, 2010
Making beautiful use of the iPad’s large high-resolution screen, “3D Storybook – The Wrong Side of the Bed in 3D!” from See Here Studios LLC features lively full-color painted illustrations viewable in both eye-popping 3D (with red/cyan 3D glasses) and standard 2D. The artwork, showcased in the Society of Illustrators “Very Best of Children’s Book Illustration,” underwent a painstaking 3D conversion process executed by Ray Zone, the leading 3D expert in the United States. The resulting 3D anaglyph illustrations bring to life the upside-down story of a little boy who wakes up on the wrong side of the bed.
What happens when you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? You see the world in a different light or, in little Mott Turner’s case, from the ceiling! We’ve all had days when we felt like we’d gotten up on “the wrong side of the bed”. Even children can relate to the feeling. So imagine how they can identify with little Mott, who wakes confused and irritable one morning, to find himself in one upside-down misadventure after another, until finally he is right side up and once again, level-headed. All kids have their off days, and laughing through this silly scenario is a humorous way to cope with those feelings.
The app features twenty-four gorgeous full color spreads, all in both 3D and 2D. Users can easily order 3D glasses from within the app. The storybook includes audio options to “Read To Me,” with the author reading the book and an original musical score, or “Read Myself” to turn off the audio when parents or children would like to read at their own pace. The 2D book can also be turned upside down to see the story in a different amusing perspective.
“The Wrong Side of the Bed” author/illustrator Wallace E. Keller has illustrated over 20 children’s books for Scholastic, Harcourt, Rizzoli International, McGraw-Hill and Houghton Mifflin. A graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, his illustrations have appeared in The New York Times Book Review, Business Week, Ms. and Psychology Today. His animation designs have been featured in Nickelodeon’s “Dora the Explorer” and McDonald’s “What’s On Your Plate” animated PSA series. He is a co-founder and creative director at See Here Studios LLC.

PassmoreLab First in Industry to Convert Clay Animation to 3-D
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 29, 2009
PassmoreLab, in cooperation with Spike & Mike, has converted Anthony Lucas’ short film “Slim Pickings” into the first-ever clay animation 3-D film. The film is one of many shorts that PassmoreLab is planning to convert from 2-D to 3-D in the coming months.
“We’re building a library of 3-D shorts with widespread audience appeal in preparation for the upcoming rollout of mass media 3-D,” said PassmoreLab President Greg Passmore. “When 3-D television and video on demand make their way into mainstream entertainment, PassmoreLab will have a collection ready. This short ‘claymation tragedy’ was a perfect fit for this effort.”
PassmoreLab stereographer, Nina Page, said “‘Slim Pickings’ worked well because clay animation already has a 3D feel. “There were a lot of shots that allowed for us to pull things out of the focal plane to achieve a more desirable 3D effect.”
Australian film “Slim Pickings” was first released in 1999. The film won the Creative Excellence in an Australian Short Film Award from the Melbourne International Film Festival in 1999, and that same year was nominated for an AFI Award from the Australian Film Institute. It has also been screened at Spike and Mike’s Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation, which occurs annually in La Jolla.
“Slim Pickings” focuses on an unnamed, slightly forlorn creature and his friendly pet-like tomato plant. The creature has seemingly run out of food after eating his last remaining can, labeled “One Old Pea,” and faces the moral dilemma of whether or not to eat his trusting plant.
The film tells its story without dialog and employs a creative combination of expressions, music, and a few squeaks from the creature and plant. Lucas used one shot of the creature’s feet early on in the story to establish that he walked, and then afterward included only shots of him from the waist up to make filming more efficient.
Anthony Lucas’ film titles also include “The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello” and “Holding Your Breath,” both of which are award-winning animation shorts.
PassmoreLab’s other recent projects include a 3-D conversion of the cult classic “Night of the Living Dead,” which is scheduled for release April 1.
