is there anything special about 3d tvs ? can u watch 3d movies like avatar “3d” on regular tv with glasses ?
how much are they gonna cost ?
when are they gonna become available?

Answer by Larry L
The new 3D TVs are somewhat different than the 2D TVs that are already out. They have built-in transmitters that will allow the 3D glasses to sync with the picture. Another TV requirement is that it be at least a 120 Hz refresh rate. Not all TVs have that. There are kits that will be coming out that will allow capable older TVs to be able to handle the new 3D, but they are not out yet. No word on when those will be available.
3D glasses will be around $ 100-$ 150 to start and Samsung and Sony have them available now.
Samsung has just come out with the first 3D TVs. You can get info at www.BestBuy.com on cost for all of the equipment.
Other manufacturers will be coming out with their TVs over the next several months. Walmart just announced that they will be selling 3D TVs this coming holiday season.

Q&A: Should I get a regular LED tv or a 3d LED tv?
January 18, 2011
Question by Chris: Should I get a regular LED tv or a 3d LED tv?
I’ve decided to get a Samsung LED LCD tv but I can’t decide if 3d is worth getting yet. If I get the regular LED, I’d be getting the Samsung 46″ B8500. If I go with the 3d Samsung model, I’ll be getting the C8000. Any thoughts from people who have 3D or play xbox 360 with 3D?
Best answer:
Answer by Joe
save some money and get the identical picture c7000(the 8000 is silver and has ‘precision dimming’-not to be confused with ‘local’ dimming-. Precision dimming is just a useless gimmick), plus you can get it in a package with a free 3d Blur Ray player and 2 pairs of 3d glasses from Samsung.
The 8500, while a great tv(and IS local dimming), is last years model….always try to ‘futureproof’ yourself…..3d is coming hard
and fast……but only satellite has 3d channels and 1080p signal(yes they do)…Cable has too many bandwith restrictions…so If you plan on going with Cable for the next 10 years, I guess it doesn’t matter which tv you get.

Samsung 40C7000 3D HDTV – A Non-Technical Review

Early in 2010 Samsung was the first major manufacturer to launch a commercial 3D HDTV. There’s been so much hype about 3D recently that an enormous amount depends on the impression this set makes; if people don’t take to 3D at once, the feature may never take off. Very cleverly Samsung has come up with a TV so stunning that 3D is only one of its many features.
One way the Samsung 40C7000 overcomes the current lack of availability of 3D material is that it features a 2D to 3D conversion function which will add depth to any flat image. Of course, it doesn’t work as well as with genuine 3D-mastered material; the only way to get the full effect is from a 3D Blu-Ray player.
The other source for 3D material will be broadcast, and the broadcasters making the biggest noise about 3D at the moment are ESPN, Discovery and Sky.
The set also has a feature called Internet@TV which lets you get connected to the web right on your HDTV, with downloadable and customizable widgets. These widgets give you access to Blockbuster, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Amazon Video On Demand and Skype. With Skype you can enjoy free picture-in-picture video calls right from your couch.
The set also includes a tuner and has a port that enables you to connect a thumb drive or digital camera quickly and easily. The user-friendly interface allows access to videos, music playlists and pictures via the remote.
Game lovers will find a “Game Mode” that enhances dark areas, sharpens the picture, speeds up the image processing response and enhances the sounds of games.
For those that are energy conscious the set exceeds the Energy Star Standards and is up to 57% more energy efficient than the Energy Star 4.0 minimum standards.

Breakthrough Technology Brings Realism to Online Home Design
January 15, 2011
Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) August 25, 2004
Using real-time 3D technology normally seen only in 3D games, plan3D.com now gives homeowners the ability to design and remodel kitchens in 3D, in real time. For the first time ever, users now see their designs come alive in real-time 3D as theyÂ?re creating and editing.
Â?Three years ago, when we started this project, no one believed we could create an online 3D design tool for homeowners. Least of all that theyÂ?d be able see real furniture, appliances and home improvement products from manufacturers in their plans.Â? laughs Michael Gariepy, co-founder of plan3D.com and ArtToday.com. Â?WeÂ?ve not only proven itÂ?s possible Â? itÂ?s clearly something consumers have been dying for. Sales for plan3D have grown 500% since the pay site opened in July.Â?
Plan3D gives subscribers the ability to see 3D models of real products from real manufacturers in their plans. Currently, plan3D offers 150 skylights from Velux and has plans to add thousands more 3D models from other manufacturers in the coming months.
Â?Studies have shown that online visualization is key to consumers making a purchasing decisionÂ? explains Kate Hayes, VP of Marketing for plan3D. Â?There are quite a few sites on the Internet experimenting with 3D visualization but none have the realism or the horsepower of plan3D.Â?
Plan3D’s web-based open architecture allows brick and mortar retailers and manufacturers to put 3D models of their products on their own websites so consumers can drag and drop them into their 3D plans. This “3D ecosystem” makes it easier for vendors and homeowners to buy and sell furniture and home improvement products online. “At the very least homeowners will get an idea of what is available before they make a trip across town. They’ll also see if the products fit in their rooms,” says Gariepy
Plan3D improves upon the paradigm of older-style home design software products like Punch and 3D Home Architect by allowing users to edit naturally in realistic 3D Â? not just in blueprint mode. And by doing so online, it relieves users of having to upgrade their CDs or download patches. Â?The Internet is the future of software distribution.Â? continues Gariepy, Â?Not only is CD distribution cumbersome, downloading and installing software is unnecessarily tedious. Our users simply click a button to run plan3D.”
Plan3D is a 400K browser plug-in that works with Windows XP or 2000 and IE 6. Minimum system requirements are a 1,000 MHz PC, 32MB 3D video card and 128MB of RAM.
Plan3D.com opened in May, 2004. Annual subscriptions sell for .95. A special version is available for manufacturers and retailers for use on their websites.
Plan3D is a trademark of plan3D, Inc. Plan3D is a startup company founded in October, 2001. Plan3D is available now. Plan3D is a trademark of Plan3D, Inc. Portions are patent pending.

The Academy Of Machinima Arts & Sciences & Nvidia Announce the 2004 Machinima Film Festival – Call For Entries
January 12, 2011
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 9, 2004
The Academy of Machinima Arts & Sciences (AMAS), an organization that provides advocacy, education and community building awareness for the entertainment medium known as Machinima: the art or technique of film making using real-time 3D virtual environments, announced today a call for entries for the 2004 Machinima Film Festival. Sponsored by NVIDIA, the worldwide leader in visual and media processing technologies, the third-annual festival will be held November 6th 2004, at the American Museum of the Moving Image in New York.
The one-day event will include screenings of Machinima films, workshops hosted by Machinima filmmakers, special screenings, talks with award-winning independent filmmakers and seminars about Machinima production techniques. The event will culminate in an awards ceremony where some of the best Machinima filmmakers will be recognized for their creative artistry in this new and powerful entertainment medium that’s set to revolutionize the world of animation.
“This year’s Machinima Film Festival is shaping up to be the largest yet,” said Paul Marino, Executive Director of the Academy. “Machinima is becoming increasingly popular and we’re looking forward to a full day of events along with a program of all new Machinima works.”
Throughout the day attendees will be able to view Machinima works and speak with the respective filmmakers. “Machinima is to independent filmmaking as traditional animation is to big studio productions. Machinima gives the writer, the artist, the director freedom to create in a way that has never been possible before… it takes filmmaking to a new level,” says Katherine Anna Kang, CEO of Fountainhead Entertainment (www.fountainheadent.com) and director/producer of last year’s award winning Machinima film, Anna. “It not only gives filmmakers a new creative voice, but also expands the types of works that can be produced. Each year the Machinima Film Festival shows off the growth of ideas, technology and creativity and I expect this year to be even greater than the last.”
Hosting the Machinima Film Festival for the second year, The American Museum of the Moving Image (www.movingimage.us) provides an excellent place for the festival, with its diverse collection and exhibitions of motion picture, television, and digital arts.
“Now it’s in third-year, this Machinima Film Festival is becoming the definitive event for an emerging group of savvy filmmakers using readily-available technology to tell their stories,” said Bill Rehbock, general manager of content development at NVIDIA. “We’re proud to support this event as it provides a showcase for the creative minds pushing the evolution of 3D entertainment forward.”
Call For Entries
Award guidelines are available at www.machinima.org. Entries will be accepted starting on August 9th, 2004, with the final entry deadline on Sept. 24th, 2004. Designed to recognize excellence in Machinima filmmaking, entrants’ work will be judged in 10 categories: Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Writing, Best Acting, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Visual Design, Best Independent Film and Best Technical Achievement, Best Commercial/Game Machinima and the Academy Honorary Award for Vision and Contribution will be given to the best Machinima produced for commercial means or in-game cinematics. Additional information about the art of Machinima and the 2004 Machinima Film Festival is available at www.machinima.org.
About The Academy of Machinima Arts & Sciences
Headquartered in New York, the organization was co-founded in 2002 by it’s Executive Director, Paul Marino, an Emmy Award-winning animator. His work with the ILL Clan has received much recognition, including top honors at Showtime NetworksÂ? 2001 Alternative Media Festival. Mr. Marino has also authored the first book about Machinima: 3D Game-Based Filmmaking: The Art of Machinima (2004, Paraglyph Press). 3D TVs Now on Offer from Conrad Electronic, Europe’s Leading Specialist Electronic and Technology Retailer
January 12, 2011
(PRWEB) June 23, 2010
The 40-inch LE40C750 LCD TV from Samsung is just one of the models that gives people the chance to watch films and television shows in 3D, and it comes with a 1920 x 1080 picture resolution and full HD.
Powered by the 3D HyperReal Engine, the LCD TV is capable of supporting all major 3D standards, as well as showing conventional images in 3D in real-time. Picture quality is supported by the Wide Colour Enhancer function, which analyses each individual pixel in the screen to create lifelike and vivid 3D images.
In order to fully enjoy the 3D viewing experience that comes with the Samsung LE40C750 LCD TV, you will need a pair of Samsung SSG-2100AB 3D shutter glasses.
Meanwhile, the 200 Hz Motion Plus technology that comes with the Samsung LE40C750 LCD TV makes it an ideal device for watching sports matches or films where the action on screen is fast and furious. With the frame rate for the LCD TV being four times higher than that of a conventional TV, the device provides the viewer with crystal-clear and harmonious images, complemented by Dolby Digital Plus audio.
Digital TV broadcasts can be recorded from the Samsung LE40C750 LCD TV directly to a USB memory stick or hard drive through the device’s PVR feature, meaning that users do not have to miss out on their favourite shows and films if they are out of the house.
Meanwhile, the Internet @ TV function allows online content from video-sharing website YouTube and other popular internet sites such as eBay or Google to be viewed onscreen.
Thanks to the networking technology present, the Allshare function can connect the Samsung TV to a home wireless network, meaning the likes of digital photos and songs can be sent and shared across all those devices which have the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) standard. DLNA devices can include the likes of multimedia hard disk drives, Blu-ray players and computers, meaning users can access audio and video content via the LE40C750 LCD TV from a whole range of electronics appliances.
A sleep timer, subtitle support and on/off timer are just a number of the other features that is available with the Samsung LE40C750 while there is picture-in-picture support and a games mode.
However, this is not the only TV that offers the 3D viewing experience, with Samsung’s UE55C7000 model also giving users the chance to experience this format. Unlike the LE40C750, this is a LED model and comes with a 55-inch screen and built-in Freeview.
Also featuring a 3D HyperReal Engine and a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, the 3D viewing experience is supported by the Wide Colour Enhancer Plus function.
Meanwhile, the 52-inch Sony KDL-52HX903 LED TV offers a 3D experience powered by the Bravia Engine 3 and intelligent Dynamic LED backlighting to offer a cinematic feel.
3D TVs – as well as a wide range of other multimedia devices and specialist technology devices – can be bought from Conrad Electronic, a leading online electronics retailer in Europe, now in the UK
