Magnetic 3D and Tatung Company of the Americas today announced an exclusive partnership to develop turn-key, interactive and immersive glasses-free 3D display solutions for the casino gaming market. These solutions will allow casino game manufacturers to develop new games from the ground up and/or up-date their current line-up of popular games to incorporate Magnetic 3D’s revolutionary “Enabl3D” format , allowing end-users the opportunity to experience 3D content without the use of 3D eyewear.
Magnetic 3D’s Enabl3D technology offers game developers new revenue streams, and the opportunity to create entirely new 3D game concepts and 3D gaming experiences, while the technology is backwards compatible to support 2D games and content.
Magnetic 3D also announced its selection of Tatung as its US-based integration and engineering partner. Tatung will deliver an array of hardware solutions, from 3D gaming to digital signage, from its headquarters in Long Beach, CA.

The companies will jointly unveil their debut glasses-free 3D display technology for slot machine gaming at G2E’s Global Gaming Expo. The showcase will include Magnetic 3D’s new Envolv™ product line, 22″ 3D touch monitors that transform 2D slot machines into interactive 3D gaming experiences (3D integration required). Magnetic 3D will be on-site to demonstrate its technology’s 2D/3D seamless and side by side playback features and backwards compatibility with legacy 2D games.
The event will take place from November 17th-19th at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The 3D displays and Enabl3D technologies will be available for viewing in Booth 3010.

It won’t be as high as the plasma and lcd tv’s when they first came out. They will be probably about $ 800 to $ 1200 more, depending on the size. That is a guess though, no announcements have been made.

Viewpoint Creative has completed final editorial, design and composite on a :60 second spot celebrating Showtime Network’s 20th Anniversary of Championship Boxing. The piece features some of the greatest moments in the history of the sport with a who’s who of boxing superstars including Mike Tyson, Felix Trinidad, Marvin Hagler, Evander Holyfield, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, and many more.
The design was built to create an epic, theatrical look that captures the historical power of the fight footage while maintaining an edgy, contemporary feel consistent with the Showtime brand. Says Viewpoint Creative designer, Matt Silbert, “The idea is based around a shattering glass logo which conveys the incredible power and impact of a fighter’s punch and the damage it causes. The explosion of glass makes an arresting way to open the piece with the fragmented, deconstructed logo threading throughout – mixing with footage and type – finally reconstructing back together at the end. Then, for a big payoff: exploding one more time.”
Mark Koehne, Viewpoint Creative composite artist continues, “Avoiding overwhelming the great boxing footage with heavy-handed graphics, we chose to accent and seamlessly blend the footage in and out of the graphics in short bursts. Before and after each name montage, we rotoscoped the boxers out of their respective scenes to tie them into each graphic section. The type treatment of the boxers names is based on a journey through time, going back in infinite space and thrusting forward to hit as the V.O. tagged each name.”
The spot is scheduled to air beginning in February on Showtime.

3-D Underwater Graphics Awarded Utility Patent For Proprietary Swimming Pool Graphics System

The patent covers the firms proprietary swimming pool art program implementing 3D goggles, 3-D poster art, specialized ink transfer, plastic stabilization and water resistant adhesion technology. “We have spent many years and thousands of dollars over and above the normal patent fees in order to convince the USPTO that 3-D UG is unique, this is a great result for us”, said Mr. Kaehr.
3-D UG will offer for sale later in 2006 a series of nautically based artisan pool posters. The posters will adhere to the smooth sides of swimming pools, under water, and be visible when viewed through 3-D glasses. Technology to protect the posters from pool chemicals, UV rays and to maintain solid adherence is being perfected in conjunction with engineering at Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (MMM).
