Is it Worth Investing in 3D HDTV?

Is it Worth Investing in 3D HDTV?
Early in 2010 Samsung launched the first commercially available 3D HDTV. The question that gets asked any time a new technology is launched is, is it worth investing in this new technology?
Firstly we need to consider whether this technology is here to stay or will it be replace by the next big thing next year. Well, 3D has been around for a while. Don’t we all remember the red and green paper glasses we needed to wear in the old 3D movies that we’ve seen in the last few years?
Hollywood would also not have spent millions of dollars on movies such as the new 3D Shrek if this was just the fashion technology of the month. So what have the TV manufacturers done? Another way to think of it is would Samsung and the other TV manufacturers launch new 3D TV’s if this wasn’t the next step in TV?
So now the question becomes not should you, but when? Like all new technology the answer lies in your own circumstances. If you need a new TV then a 3D HDTV is the latest technology, so you can’t go wrong there. If you love new technology then this is for you. Your friends will be talking about you for weeks to come. You’ll be the next king of the movie nights amongst your friends.
The trick with 3D HDTVs is to do your homework especially as the technology is still new. Make sure that you know what you want and what are the minimum specifications that you will need for your circumstances.

Q&A: Can I play my ps3 in 3D Using a Samsung 3D tv?
September 28, 2010
Question by Hernando R: Can I play my ps3 in 3D Using a Samsung 3D tv?
Once the 3D games come out for the ps3 and the updates are available, do you think that it will be possible to play a Ps3 in 3D using a Samsung 3D tv, instead of the Sony?
I’ve got the new Samsung 3D Tv and Have a Ps3 so i was wondering, anyone know?
Best answer:
Answer by thathandsomedevil69
Of course you. You don’t need a Sony tv to play in 3d. Just like you don’t need a Sony tv to play games in HD. There are already games out not that support the 3d like motorstorm and wipeout HD. There are 5 that i heard of that support it those two are the ones i can think of off my head.

“Jungle Beat” Now in 3D
September 28, 2010
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 31, 2007
“Jungle Beat” is the latest in a series of popular children’s animations that will be converted to 3D for viewing in theaters, and eventually on 3D TV, worldwide. Following in the footsteps of firms like Disney, who’ve released 3D versions of “Chicken Little” and “Meet The Robinsons” to great fanfare, Cape Town’s Sunrise Productions has hired San Diego 3D technology firm, PassmoreLab, to convert 13 episodes of its award-winning “Jungle Beat” series to 3D.
Written and directed by Brent Dawes and produced by Phil and Jacqui Cunningham, “Jungle Beat” follows a variety of cute animal characters as they embark on journeys in which they encounter bizarre things. Based on tales that the indigenous people of Africa have been telling their children for centuries, “Jungle Beat” provides a permanent way to document these precious fables that have been passed down with care from generation to generation. By converting them to 3D it also allows the stories to reach a much wider audience.
“The ‘Jungle Beat’ series is really cute.” said Greg Passmore, owner of PassmoreLab. “Everyone I have shown them to loves them because they are stories we can all relate to. Adding 3D will help story emphasis and increase appeal even more.”
In an interesting twist, the decision to convert “Jungle Beat” to 3D not only ensures the preservation and proliferation of these time-honored tales but it will also create jobs and give back to the local economy of the indigenous African people. PassmoreLab recently opened facilities in Cape Town where its hiring local people in the townships to perform the 2D to 3D conversion of the series.
According to Passmore, “This project not only serves to help owners of films, but we have made a major effort to train and employ the artists in the impoverished communities of South Africa. These communities are filled with talented, creative and enthusiastic artists who want to learn and succeed. This project pays them to learn through our schooling system and progress to doing meaningful film production. Our goal is to make a self-sustaining economic model that helps all participants.”
Conversion of the series is already under way. Passmore said they “look forward to having it available on the 3D TVs by Samsung and Mitsubishi using the TI 3D DLP chip.”
Sunrise Producer, Phil Cunningham, believes the partnership with PassmoreLab will help them to stay on the forefront of the latest technological advances. “PassmoreLab is an amazing partner to team up with.” said Cunningham. “They will help us push boundaries on the technology front. The work they do is cutting-edge, amazing.”

3D Tv Systems And Real 3D Dvd Are Coming And Will Change How We Watch Tv
September 23, 2010
3D Tv Systems And Real 3D Dvd Are Coming And Will Change How We Watch Tv
People, old enough to remember the last time round, are sure to dismiss this as just another flash in the pan. How wrong could they be…this time 3D is coming with the whole entourage. Real 3D DVD with a 3D DVD player to play them on along with the 3D TV systems, oh yes, and those 3D glasses – but not as you know them Jim!
You can take this as gospel, 3D is here again. But this time round it is not just for the cinema as 3d tv systems will allow real 3d dvd to be played on your very own 3d dvd player and all from the comfort of your own armchair.
Even though the technology can be dated back to the start of the last century, it has not always enjoyed a good press. Some of the movies released in three dimension where frankly rubbish and to a certain point this killed any chance of it becoming main stream–though if you ask some they would maintain it was those appalling 3D glasses that put the final nail in the coffin.
So what has changed? It really stems to the technology being thrust back into the limelight, over the last couple of years, by recent Hollywood block busters and Disney productions. This has been galvanized by the massive success of Avatar, released in three dimension, becoming the highest grossing film of all time. But Avatar was just one of 17 3D movies in 2009 with at least another 12 already planned for 2010.
The speed of which the biggest players in the consumer electronics industry have jumped on this, and brought the technology to the point of release, has been nothing short of staggering. It seems the only thing that has been holding the mass launch going ahead has been the content; a lack of 3D DVDs, players and programs.
That has all changed as we left the noughties and entered this new decade. Amazon have jumped aboard for the ride and now offer real 3d dvd movies, documentaries, series and music dvd that can be played on either regular 2D or new 3D Blu Ray DVD players. They also recently had a small batch of the first ever 3D Blu Ray DVD players, the Samsung BD-C6900. These soon sold out at a price of 9 and at the time of writing no announcement has been made regarding when they will be back in stock. One good point on the subject of 3d dvd players is that the Sony PS3 is able to play 3D discs with a simple firmware update.
The broadcaster BSkyB is also getting in on the action early. Their recent broadcast of the Arsenal-Manchester United game in 3D, played to a small group of nine pubs across the UK and Eire, took the industry by surprise. This followed their announcement that a full 3D channel will be available, to existing and new Sky HD+ box subscribers, from April of this year. ESPN are due to launch their 3D channel in June and broadcast some 80 or more sports events in 3D and the Discovery/Imax/Sony partnership will have their own version before the year is out.
So you can see, this time round, with the promise of real 3d dvd and broadcasts along side of a 3d dvd player and 3d tv systems to watch it all on. Yes, 3D is here to change the way we watch TV for ever.
